Hi! We are Matt and Jacinda and we have the pleasure of leading Coast Vineyard Church. We have three daughters, and we live in Dairy Flat (along with our dog, cat, and little flock of sheep!).
We launched Coast Vineyard in 2013 out of a passion that God had put in our hearts for the vibrant and growing Coast area and the conviction that He has exciting things in store for this community.
Looking back, we can see that God has brought us on an exciting and varied journey to prepare us for this adventure. We discovered the Vineyard Church movement in the late 80's and realised that we had found our tribe. John Wimber, the international leader of the Vineyard, seemed to be talking of life and faith in ways that resonated with our own hearts. We moved to Oxford in England in 1992, and it was during this time that God spoke clearly to us both about a call to full-time church ministry and church planting in NZ. We didn’t quite do the typical OE as we spent the bulk of our time in the UK being equipped for pastoral ministry before moving to Anaheim, California in 1995 where we worked on staff at the Anaheim Vineyard Church to continue our training.
When we returned to NZ in 1996 we spent the next 10 years serving in various pastoral leadership roles within the local church including leading a Vineyard church in West Auckland for 8 years. In 2006 we handed over this church in response to a sense of God calling us to be available for something else. This resulted in us moving to the Hibiscus Coast area in 2007 with a sense of call to this area and we suspected that planting a church in this region might be in the future for us.
Prior to planting Coast Vineyard Church we’ve been busy raising our girls, working (Matt running an engineering project management company and Jacinda returning to teaching), supporting our local church and returning to study so we could both complete a Masters degree in Christian Ministry.
We love movies, travel, reading, spearfishing (Matt), photography (Jacinda)and good food. Our kids (and their friends) keep us grounded, entertained, and enjoying life.
We are so excited about this church that God has built and continues to build. We would love to meet you if you are thinking of joining us.
